Christopher
L. Murphy lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife, Elizabeth, and
their four children, James, Michael, Gray and Mason. Mr. Murphy
received his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina
School of Law in 1997 and immediately accepted a law clerk position
for the Honorable John L. Breeden, Jr., Circuit Court Judge for
the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit.

After
clerking for a year, Mr. Murphy became a partner at Stuckey Law
Offices, LLC, which later became Stuckey & Murphy, LLC. After
ten years in private practice and the birth of his third son, Mr.
Murphy decided to give back to the community by taking a position
as an Assistant Prosecutor for the Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office.
While in law school, Mr. Murphy distinguished himself by earning
multiple spots on the Dean's List and receiving the Strom Thurmond
Merit Scholarship. Mr. Murphy also served as a research assistant
for Professor Kenneth Gaines and clerked for the Honorable Bristow
Marchant, U.S. Magistrate-Judge.
Mr.
Murphy specializes in government defense including Tort Claims Act,
Constitutional matters, §1983, and condemnation cases. Mr.
Murphy litigated well over a 100 civil and criminal cases in South
Carolina Federal, State, magistrate and municipal courts. Mr. Murphy's
list of clients have included: South Carolina Department of Education,
South Carolina Department of Transportation, South Carolina Department
of Natural Resources, South Carolina Department of Corrections,
Beaufort County, Charleston County, Horry County, Dorchester County,
Georgetown County, Jasper County, City of Charleston, Town of Summerville,
City of North Charleston, City of Myrtle Beach, City of Folly Beach,
Pawleys Island, Town of St. George, College of Charleston, and Medical
University of South Carolina.
Mr.
Murphy has been or currently is a member of the Charleston Bar Association,
South Carolina Bar Association, the American Bar Association, The
National Institute of Trial Advocacy, the South Carolina Criminal
Defense Bar, The Sons of the American Legion, The Hobcaw Yacht Club,
The Bohicket Yacht Club and The Charleston Squash Club.
